The MINTONS of Alabama is a genealogy and family history of Silvanus Minton and his descendants who migrated from SC to Pleasant Gap, Cherokee Co., AL and to Prairie Co., AR. Silvanus was a Baptist preacher with Quaker roots who founded churches in AL and AR. He was Justice of the Peace in old Benton Co. (now Calhoun Co.), AL in 1841 and was "run out" of AL in 1860 by the AL Confederate Militia for preaching against the Civil War.
